New research study

A student research project at University College London is looking at memory and concentration difficulties experienced at the menopause, especially brain fog and its impact on people’s lives. To take part, you need to be aged 40 to 60, experiencing memory and concentration difficulties and/or brain fog at the menopause, don’t have a confirmed diagnosis of cognitive impairment or dementia, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease or long Covid, and can answer an online survey (20 minutes) in English. For more information, please contact Danielle Proctor (trainee clinical psychologist) at d.proctor@ucl.ac.uk or Professor Aimee Spector (principal investigator) at a.spector@ucl.ac.uk.

The Royal Osteoporosis Society has relaunched “Bone Health and Osteoporosis UK”, its online community for anyone affected by osteoporosis, bone health and fractures (including patients, families and carers). The fully moderated safe space is hosted on the HealthUnlocked platform and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, thanks to National Lottery funding. You can join and interact with the Bone Health and Osteoporosis UK community at https://healthunlocked.com/bonehealth.

DIY testing for cervical cancer?

The YouScreen clinical trial at King’s College London has revealed that DIY tests for human papilloma virus (HPV) could enable over one million more women in England to take part in cervical screening over the next three years. The trial provided HPV self-sampling test kits, which can be used at home, to women who were at least six months overdue for cervical screening. It took place in five London boroughs as part of the NHS Cervical Screening Programme. Another UK study, called HPValidate, is looking at how HPV self-screening could be rolled out more widely.
